Man, that whole bit was so lame. WWE comedy for its own sake is unbearable on its own. It only works when its put into an interview or a promo or something like that (I'm looking at you Mick Foley). Turned the channel in disgust. How were the early KOTR mathes? I meant to watch, but I ended up missing everything but the final. Must say, I'm really enjoying seeing Regal again, always liked him.

WWE.com's Top 25 Most Annoying Gimmicks

Some of these are head scratchers (not sure if they're just picking horrible gimmicks or stuff the marks hated) and I think they could have dug a little deeper, but the inclusions of Max Moon, Repo Man and Aldo Montoya almost make up for it. The picture for #12 is also hilarious.

Still, it's nice to see WWE poke a little fun at itself. Also, the Annual Smackdown! Gutting/Draft is coming up, so I expect there will be a bit more discussion in these parts.

Seriously. I weep for the fate of ECW. What the WWE has done with ECW is like killing a loved one then bringing them back as a mindless zombie and raping them weekly on national television. It's just a continually painful desecration. Fuck, I'll just go ahead and say it and sound like an idiot anyways. ECW used to mean something, man...
Midnite_Vulture
Are the matches even extreme any more? Weak sauce.

So, to the extent that the basic dignity of Pro Wrestling can be insulted, a new CMT show is setting out to do just that:

Danny Bonaduce, Dennis Rodman and Dustin "Screech" Diamond are heading into the ring to compete in CMT's upcoming reality series "Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling."

Also on board are Todd Bridges ("Diff'rent Strokes"), super-heavyweight boxer ButterBean, Trishelle Cannatella ("The Real World"), Erin Murphy (Tabitha Stephens on "Bewitched"), Frank Stallone, '80s pop star Tiffany and Playboy playmate Nikki Ziering.

In addition, professional wrestling manager Jimmy Hart has joined Hogan and former World Championship Wrestling president Eric Bischoff as judges on the show, in which the contestants will compete to be named "Celebrity All-Star Wrestling Champion" based on their performance in various challenges that will include mastering complex wrestling moves, talking trash and working a live audience. The cast also will be coached by former pro wrestlers Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and Brian Knobbs.

Production is under way in Los Angeles for a fall premiere. The eight-episode series is based on an original concept by exec producers Hogan, Bischoff and Jason Hervey.

Hogan, Bischoff, Jimmy Hart plus professional Hogan parasites Brutus Beefcake and Brian Knobbs? Not to mention a bevy of sub D-list celebs! Why, What could go wrong!?

Forget about cunt. The worst curse in the world is still "Executive Producer Eric Bischoff".

I agree with you, but I'm still watching this. It'll be worth it just to see a roided-out Bonaduce kick the shit out of Screech.

Vince got Rickrolled tonight on Raw.

Gotta be one of the best moments in RAW history. I'm convinced the dude let it ring for a bit just to hear it go on longer.

And as long as we're on the subject of Vince's million, I think I'll connect that to my rolling great promos of wrestling for just two more

Diesel
Here's the vid of Vince's Rickroll. I literally LOL'd for about five minutes.

ladytron: the tv series
right nw i dont find this that funny, but gawd i would pay money to have vince come to my family bbq's. and by money id pay him in ribs.
Diesel
So the draft lottery is almost up.

Again, Raw gets the best picks ... well, and Big Fucking Dave.

With Smackdown going to the dead-in-the-water My Network TV, especially, this isn't surprising that SD would lose its biggest stars ... and ECW is, well, ECW, so Punk and Kane leaving will just be the final nail, even if they're getting Matt (meh) Hardy.

Still ... I'm totally fucking pissed that Big Goddamn Dave is going to be ON THE SHOW I WATCH.

DAMNIT.
Paul
This is actually the first night I'm (kind of) watching since around Wrestlemania. I don't feel like I've missed much. The ECW to Raw stuff makes a little more sense when I remembered that they're changing the ECW tapings from being with Smackdown to being with Raw in a month or so.
Midnite_Vulture
I'm not really sure who Triple H is going to feud with after Edge and MVP. What a sorry state Smackdown is in.

I am looking forward to having CM Punk on Raw. My goodness, so many potential great matches (HBK, Jericho, Mysterio, Carlito, Orton...)

i love the rumble

i remember i was all about WCW's World War 3 until i actually watched it.... what a mess!

the Rumble has to be hard to choreograph and work.... the agents must be working overtime for that

It truly is amazing that the Rumble has yet to go stale.

Also, fuck yeah at this

I'm expecting big things for the CM Punk title run. I don't think a new face has been over like this in some time. And I'm really hoping it will bring about a Cena heel turn.
Diesel
I really like the idea of CM Punk as champion, don't get me wrong, but he was booked to be pretty lucky/weak last night. I hope this doesn't continue. I'd like to see him hold the belt for a little bit (through Summerslam, at least), but with Big Fucking Dave on the show, I dunno. This almost reeks of "transitional champion" to me.
Efrim
I like this CM Punk title reign. Especially since he reps Chicago so hard. They look typically tepid in backing him though. I seriously suspected a turn around loss to JBL in what would be the start of building him up as a monster heel (which should still be done in some manner). A Cena turn would be spectacular. Anyways, they need to realize how over Punk is and seriously build him up.

when you say "he was booked to be pretty lucky/weak"
are you referring to the Mikey Whipwreck angle where he would just get his ass handed to him then get lucky in the end?

is that what CM is doing now?
HewlettsDaughter
I was walking out of my apartment last Monday morning and said to myself "should I set a recording for Raw tonight...?" After about five minutes of preparing my lunch/brushing my teeth/et cetera, I wound up forgetting to set the DVR and inevitably not caring once I remembered like 20 minutes later on the el.

Once I got in from class at about 930, I checked online to see what I'd missed and it looked like it was one of the most entertaining Raw's in a really long time. So naturally I set everything to record tonight so i wouldn't miss much after my final.

But the idea of this new young cast of characters leading Raw really intrigues me. I have a feeling Punk will end up being a transitional champ, yeah, but for now, I'm going to enjoy the ride. I've always liked Punk since the days of watching him wrestle in the Andrew High School gym on hot Saturday afternoon's. Seeing him win on Monday, even through a crummy Youtube clip, lead me to marking harder than I've mark'd in a long time. I really don't think any 'wrestling' aspects of the WWE's product has ellicited a legitimate reaction from me other than the Flair retirement (and that had more to do with the nostalgia of it all rather than the 'wrestling' itself).

WWE, you've succeeded in getting people talking again and have drawn me back in to your product. Now don't let me down.

It's say the chance of them not letting us down is about 15 percent. I'm being generous on that. Decreases to zero over time of course.
HewlettsDaughter
yeah, there is a very slim chance they will succeed with this new direction, but i'm going to enjoy the ride while it's going on

i would honestly be shocked if Punk retains the belt for more than a month and a half. if he makes it to Summerslam as champ, well, colour me shocked.

and i like the idea of Rhodes/DiBiase as tag champs a whole lot, but the problem with that is that the tag division is abysmal. unless the WWE makes a conservative effort to built a legit tag division like they had in the late 90s, then i see the two o fthem as tag champs as just a minor footnote in the (hopefully glorious) career of Ted DiBiase Jr. the little i've seen of that kid has me thinking he's going to be a legit main eventer down the road. he just seems like he has skill.

Late answer on this, just minutes before RAW where hopefully this will change, but the victories on Punk's first night as champ were like $1.50 victories.

1. Wins the belt from Edge just after Big Dave whips the shit out of him.
2. Retains against JBL because John Cena and Cryme Time show up and interfere in the match. Doesn't even score a pinfall ... match ends by DQ, I believe.

Not exactly strong champion material. Not Mikey, but not dominant either.

Don't get me wrong ... I LIKE PUNK. I DON'T WANT to see him booked as "not a real champion who'll lose without streaks of luck/outside interference" that's all.
Hero
thx for the clarity

i checked the youtube vid and just caught the JBL match on Raw

Batista vs. CM Punk for next PPV???

anyone think this will stick?

I would love to see a CM Punk vs. Jericho/HBK (when their fued is done)

even a Punk vs. Jeff Hardy... that would be awesome
Efrim
HOLY SHIT D-LO BROWN

YOU'RE LOOKIN AT THE REAL DEAL NOW
Efrim
Man, is it too much for Punk to have one match where he doesn't have to sell shit like he's some curtain jerker? He is being booked to look soooooo weak. Tonight he couldn't even put away a "crippled" Dave, leaving it to a DQ just before an apparent loss. Does the WWE want people to think their champ can't put on a decent fight?
Hero
CM Punk vs. Regal was quite good

Regal has lost a bit of weight and still shows to be a good mat wrestler.... and Punk... damn good bleeding

Thrilled to see Regal back. Good show with Punk. Infinitely better fit for him than big dumb Dave. Cole getting beat up is fun and all, but with Mike Adamle waiting in the wings (also known as Vince's personal fuck you to ECW) it ends up being as much a curse as a blessing. God, a so-bad-he's-good announcer angle doesn't even begin to work. Seriously, fuck you for that wwe.
HewlettsDaughter
flipping between raw and the cubs tonight has been good

raw tonight has been enjoyable from what i've seen

i only wish mickie james' dad got kicked in the head. i feel all fathers in professional wrestling should get kicked in the head. randy orton set a precedent that i think needs to be upheld

Efrim
RAW has been pretty good tonight. Batista doing main events is pretty miserable though.
Efrim
Man, that was a powerfully undramatic revelation. You could practically hear the crowd say "huh?"
HewlettsDaughter
MIKE ADAMLE WTF?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I honestly screamed when i saw that ending. Like, jumped up and yelled "WHAAAAT?!?!"

I had to then explain then to my roommates why this was so shocking.

I find this turn to be shocking and awesome all simultaneously

NOTE: I find this very hilarious. I really don't know why it made me jump up and shriek. It was a weird reaction, but one I had, none the less.
