Could be successful groups spawned by members of other successful groups, maybe re-formed groups with completely new members, etc.

Drifters, New Order, Big Star, Wilco, Foo Fighters, Breeders, Sugar, Wings (if you like that sort of thing), Fine Young Cannibals, stuff like that.

A recent show focused on the trend for new or unlikely members lineup changes to classic bands, and the pros/cons (mostly cons, with the likes of INXS, Queen, and "21st Century" Doors.)

WIRE, bitches.

Not sure that counts as far as the original post, but they definitely had a great second (third?) act with the Read & Burn EPs and Send.

The guy is talking about great bands that formed out of other semi-notable bands.

If I started a thread about maroon 5 or something i'm sure i'd get a few "Dude WTF?" responses.

You'd be surprised. You would mostly get "'This Love' is incredibly awesome"-type responses. Maybe some guy would come in and say, "Dudes, Kara's Flowers totally ruled! Really!" Maybe one guy would be all, "No one here actually likes top 40 music and the only ones who say they do say so for cred purposes," causing the thread would expand to a heated 10 page argument, featuring wordy responses from Raj, Sickpup, Scott, etc., along with Bill saying something like "Vertical Herizon are awesome." Someone would complain about people liking the New Radicals. Alky or somebody might even WhyEssEye a Filter mix.

Don't say you weren't warned.

I'm silently laughing to myself.

And what about the friggin' Jesus Lizard.
