in that clipse review. what do you think. are clipse the new ghostface. the rockist face of modern rap. i like both these people by the way, clipse and ghost, but are we seeing the HNIC ( Head Nigga In charge) theory thats whites invented over again.

You know, how only one black is allowed to shine at a time. So you had Chris Rock, and no one else was allowed the shine and acclaim, then dave chappelle.
Atr the oscars is the 2 minimum black winner awards. no more than 2 winners at a time, henc eddie got shafted by that old man.

So basically, out of all the ignorant rappers, only one shall be aclaimed. Clipse seem to be that group now. Outkast was that a while back. what do you think>

My broad view of black culture is not sophisticated enough to make a judgement of whether popular culture can support more than a few highly regarded black artists. Though off the top of my head, there seems to be a few artists that have both popular and critical acclaim right now: Clipse, Timbaland, Ghostface, Neptunes, Kanye West, Jay-Z.

All I know for sure is that when I play Hell Hath No Fury it sounds amazing. Good is good, and that cream usually always (eventually) rises to the top.

the rockist face of modern rap.

the "rockist" theory is a bullshit one, and invoking it automatically makes any argument bullshit.

i would hardly say ghostface or clipse have popular acclaim on the level of tim, neptunes, kanye or jay z.

how you can all outkast "ignorant rappers" i'll never understand.

Clipse's album sales aren't even good.

he's talking about critics

Did anyone notice this morning on the Sun Times' website that several of the stories had the opening paragraph repeated - including the Dero column? It surprises me a paper like this would have such awful content management.

But how does critical praise and an underground following save a genre?
Jigga
yep likejdee say i am talking critically, just seems that after yrs of being ignored and looked down upon, jimand greg all of a sudden think this clipse album is cool with all its gun and drug talk etc. i am no expert but is there even a crack epidemic over there for the clipse to be rapping about? i think it is cool the clipse and ghostface i dont want to rain on their parade when they getting mainstrem crit love, but its not out of the ordinary of whats beeing coming out.

sun times is operated on a shoestring budget from what i understand
its the opposite of a paper like the tribune - it isn't publicly traded, i think? something like that. the point is they have super-low overhead.
